“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13).
When we hide our sin, we sin all the more. In order to hide our sin, we have keep our minds focused on it, always conscious of it. If we confess that we have sinned, are honest with God, us and others about the sin, it is exposed to the light of God. Not to condemn us, but so God can help us conquer it.
“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition” (1Timothy 6:9).
If we allow the riches of this world to get in us, to master us, instead of us mastering them, we will cross the line and fall into lusts and temptation. But if we return our focus to Christ and what He has done for us, we will gain the right perspective, and what we need will be added unto us.
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2).
Benefits? Serving God comes with benefits? No. Accepting Christ comes with benefits. Nothing we can do can earn us the blessing of God. Our blessings come from God because we are His children. Read all of Psalm 103 and see what comes with accepting Christ as your Saviour.
