Walking Through Flames?

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. – Isaiah 43:2 (NIV).

In the past month, I have been through what has seemed like the fire and water.

I planned everything when I decided to move to Nevada.  I transferred my job.  I locked down an apartment.  I bought the plane ticket.  I sold, gave away or threw out all but what could fit in my two suitcases.

Only things didn’t work out like I planned.  The apartment fell through at the last moment.  When I got to my new store, it wasn’t as it had been presented to me.

The first week I wanted to go back to Arizona, only I didn’t have the money for the plane ticket.

That was a good thing because it caused me to be resourceful…and I had to rely on my God, who came through every step of the way.

Now a month later, I am glad I didn’t hi-tail it back to Arizona the first paycheck I received.  I came here to heal, and I am healing by doing things totally out of my comfort zone.

It is those times when you feel like you are drowning, when you feel like you are being set on fire, that the real healing is taking place.  It is in those times that you learn who you really are and who you can depend on.

People are going to fail you.  People are going to disappoint you.  People are going to be too busy with their own drama to help.

God will never be too busy to help.  God will never fail or disappoint you.

In those times when you feel like you aren’t going to survive, let God be your compass.  Lean on God and know that He is fighting your battles for you (Exodus 14:14).
